It's nearly Easter!

It's not long to Easter now when we will be organising the exhibition in the poulty marquee at Carlton Towers. As well as poultry there will be some livestock & old tractors to see this year. If the weather is kind to us it will be a brilliant four days (actually, as hardened flyballers it will be brilliant whatever the weather - we'll never forget clearing the arena of snow on Easter Sunday!).

The rare breeds are starting to lay now, and the first eggs are being incubated to check on fertility. Victoria the Embden goose is doing a spot of incubating of her own, sitting on a clutch of eggs in the shed. The ducks continue to lay well.

What's been happening this week

The rare breeds have started to lay and hatching eggs are now available for some of the chicken breeds.

A new batch of  point of lay Novas  (hybrids) are available to buy. These are beautiful looking birds in a range of colours with excellent  temperaments. Brilliant birds for first-timers.

Howden Hounds had a great day at Gap Farm on Saturday, coming 3rd with a seed time of 21.12 in Division 4. We had some good close racing, including a dead heat. Well done to Tiger, Arthur, Caleb, Dylan, Paddy & Seve.

Percival the baby Italian Greyhound caught his first rat (we think a cat got to it first but don't tell Percy as he was so proud!).

Welcome to the Asselby Chucks website - the website that Keith has always wanted but never quite got round to creating. So as usual I've done it for him, but at least it's given me the opportunity to sneak in lots of photos of my beloved dogs and publicise the Howden Hounds flyball team!
